What Vermont needs now is rain, sweet rain… 🌧️

Our rivers are so low that never-before-seen ‘islands’ (shown at the beginning of the reel) and exposed shorelines reveal just how much we need. We had a couple of rainy days this week, but much more is still needed.

Even so, Vermont’s beauty hasn’t gone anywhere. The foliage is still booming, the mountains are glowing, and the landscapes remain breathtaking.

✨ Exploring South Hero, Vermont ✨

During our 4-night stay at @apple_island_resort , we enjoyed our time on site but also visited some wonderful spots around South Hero that made the trip extra special.

🎣 On the Water

My husband and sons went fishing with Sure Strike Charters. They caught plenty of fish, enjoyed the beautiful waters of Lake Champlain, and made memories they’ll cherish forever.

🛍️ Shopping Local

Apple Island General Store – at the entrance of Apple Island RV Resort. Has a deli, coffee, Vermont products, souvenirs, drinks, and camping essentials.

Keeler Bay Variety – a handy stop with just about everything you need, including a liquor store.

GOULET FARM STAND – a charming South Hero spot offering fresh veggies, fruits, honey, maple syrup, baked goods, jams, meats, and more.

The Green Frog – adorable spot for gifts and Vermont souvenirs.

🍻 Good Eats & Drinks 🍕

We loved hanging out at Two Heroes - Brewery — great beer, food, and atmosphere!

We also ordered take out pizza from Pans Pizza which was amazing.

🚲 Things We Did

-Biked/walked the breathtaking South Hero Island Line Trail/Colchester Causeway — the path stretches right out into Lake Champlain, surrounded by incredible water and mountain views on both sides.

-Explored the Arnold Zlotoff Tool Museum and admired classic cars at the Z Motorsports Car Museum (both on site at Apple Island RV Resort.

⛴️ Day Trip Bonus

We ventured outside of South Hero for a few hours and took the ferry to Plattsburgh, NY and visited the Air Force Base Museum 🇺🇸

✨ South Hero has such a mix of beauty, history, and small-town charm. This was a trip we will always remember, and we hope this post inspires you to visit South Hero sometime too.

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice! Hollywood in the Green Mountains? You bet! 🎬✨

The quiet village of East Corinth, VT has played a starring role not once, but twice, as the fictional town of Winter River, CT in Tim Burton’s Beetlejuice films. The original classic was filmed here in 1988, and decades later in 2023, the cameras returned for Beetlejuice Beetlejuice—starring Jenna Ortega, Catherine O’Hara, and Winona Ryder—and here are some pics from during set time!

For the sequel, the famous Deetz house was rebuilt on the same hill overlooking town—this time draped in black as a symbol of mourning—while Main Street was transformed with shopfronts, pumpkins, and a perfectly spooky small-town feel. The movie was actually filmed in summer so foliage was brought in to create the perfect fall setting. East Corinth’s classic small-town charm made it the perfect backdrop for both films, a true showcase of Vermont’s timeless beauty. 🍂

Our first Wonders of VT adventure was a special one-Mt. Pisgah on Mother’s Day.

Vermont was just starting to wake up… the trees were turning green, the trails were full of life, and my 5-year-old decided to throw in a dance on the way down. These really are the days.

✅ Harvey’s Lake Public Beach has everything for a fun family day! Sandy beach, clear water, playground, picnic spots — it’s the perfect place to relax and enjoy summer in Vermont. 🏖️💚 They currently have eagle 🦅 views as well as there is one nesting there in one of the trees.

Marshfield, VT: Small Town, Big Beauty

If you’re looking to hit multiple gorgeous spots in a single day, Marshfield should be on your radar. This little town is packed with peaceful, photo-worthy gems—and they’re all easy to enjoy without a full-day hike.

💦 Start at Marshfield Falls:
This roadside waterfall is viewable right from your vehicle—no hiking required. Enjoy two beautiful perspectives from Upper Depot Road and Lower Depot Road. The lower view is my favorite, but both are close enough that you should check out both yourself.

🌸 Next go to Vermont Flower Farm – Stroll through dreamy blooms and take in the colors of the season. It’s pure joy for the senses! Check out my reel for a visual preview. This is on the Wonders of Vermont WOW List-must see spots in Vermont.

💦 Then swing by Martin Covered Bridge and enjoy a picnic– No hike required, just park and walk down a short path to enjoy the bridge. Beyond it enjoy picnic tables, river views and walk paths.

The owners are some of the kindest people you’ll ever meet, and the grounds are incredibly peaceful. If you’re driving Route 2, I highly recommend stopping by — or better yet, make a special trip just for it. You’ll be so glad you did!
